KITEFEST ALASKA 2010
(June 4 – 6)
WHAT A GREAT EVENT WE HAD THIS YEAR!
Unlike in years past, this year was sunny AND windy, two elements I thought I would never see in so much abundance at an Alaskan kite festival! While the wind was light on Fri, an unusual east wind of about 20 mph tore through on Sat. 13 kiters were seen on the water at one time – an Alaskan record! Biginners also had a great time with free classes all weekend. Instructors were in the water & on the beach with students all weekend & the gear they had to choose from was almost endless thanks to our amazing sponsors.

THANKS TO ALL OUR SPONSORS!!!!

We are still putting together the roster of classes for this year, but I will say that this year's fest will focus on safety & getting new kiters going with all the tools to kite safely. Two KiteFest organizers are now certified PASA kiteboarding instructors & will insure participants get into kiting in the safest & most enjoyable way possible.

KiteFest Alaska 2010 SCHEDULE

From years past we have learned not to try to set anything in stone. So, this year, we will go with the flow and offer classes, clinics and comps when the wind allows. You can use this schedule to get a rough idea of what will be happening when.

CLASSES/CLINICS: This year we are going to offer continuous trainer kite classes/ground school throughout the day. More advanced instruction will be supplied either for free or for a fee (instructors discretion) by any of our certified instructors. Please approach them for details.

AUCTIONS, RAFFLES & SWAP MEET: We will have live and silent auctions for gear going through the weekend as well as raffles for kiteboard gear. Additionally, participants are encouraged to bring their used gear to sell or trade at the event.

DEMO GEAR: Our sponsors have provided lots of demo gear including boards and kites. skilled riders will be able to check this equipment out only by signing a form, leaving a credit card and proving sufficiently skilled. Most of this gear will also be for sale at great prices.

SHIRTS: We are super psyched to have custom KiteSurf Alaska KiteFest 2010 t shirts for sale. Who isn't proud to be an Alaskan kiter!!?? These will be for sale for $20 with all proceeds going to paying for the event.

DETAILS: All participants will be required to sign a liability waiver. When they do this, they will receive a bracelet which is their all access pass to everything KiteFest! Participants are also asked to make a donation of 15$ per day or $40 for the weekend (or more if you like what we are doing). KiteFest is put on and run entirely by volunteers and is a not for profit organization dedicated to promoting kiteboarding in Alaska.
