KITEFEST ALASKA 2010 (June 4 – 6)
WHAT A GREAT EVENT WE HAD THIS YEAR!
Unlike in years past, this year was sunny AND windy, two elements I thought I would never see in so much abundance at an Alaskan kite festival! While the wind was light on Fri, an unusual east wind of about 20 mph tore through on Sat. 13 kiters were seen on the water at one time – an Alaskan record! Biginners also had a great time with free classes all weekend. Instructors were in the water & on the beach with students all weekend & the gear they had to choose from was almost endless thanks to our amazing sponsors.

We are still putting together the roster of classes for this year, but I will say that this year's fest will focus on safety & getting new kiters going with all the tools to kite safely. Two KiteFest organizers are now certified PASA kiteboarding instructors & will insure participants get into kiting in the safest & most enjoyable way possible. |
